  NEW PROGRAM!!!!

The YMCa will be offering Clogging begining on April 14. Award-winning dancer, Dorothy Stephenson will be the lead instructor. This once traditional dance now incorporates a variety of different styles including jazz, hip-hop and pointe. Participants need to wear comfortable attire and slick bottom shoes. Classes are 6 weeks and held on Wednesdays from 4PM-5PM. Ages 13 to adults. Please visit the Member Services desk for information and to register.

2ND ANNUAL ALLEGHANY HIGHLANDS TRIATHLON

The Clifton Forge Main Street, Inc. will be hosting the Triathlon on Saturday, May 22, 2010. Race begins at 9:00AM. You can register as an individual or in teams. There are 3 stages: 5K run, 5K paddle and 16 K bike. Download the registration form and waiver and sign up today!. Visit www.cliftonforgemainstreet.org for additional information.

HEALTHY YOU! PROGRAM

The YMCA is proud to offer a new program FREE to members. This is a personalized program designed for any member who is looking for additional support to reach their personal wellness goals. Included in the program is a fitness assessment, development of a specialized workout program and a post-assessment. This program is led by our Wellness Coaches who have received speciliazed training in assessments and program designs. This is a great benefit for the member who is new to exercising as well as those who need to be challenged to the next level. Program begins in January!

  

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE   

 

 GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES

All classes are included with your YMCA membership. Members must present YMCA Membership card upon entering the class. All participants need to bring an exercise mat. Classes are available for ages 13 and older. Classes are subject to change. Please refer to the schedule posted outside of the Aerobic studio.
  • Yoga:Utilizes posture, breathing techniques, and relaxation to develop muscular strength and flexibility.
  • Cardio Kick: An upbeat class incorporating basic kickboxing.
  • Beginner Kickboxing: Introduction to kickboxing including boxing to create a healthy workout. Great for the first time exerciser.
  • Turbo-Kick: The ultimate cardio class which incorporates kickboxing and martial arts techniques.
  • Extreme Toning: Nonstop toning and body movement  that creates a high intensity workout. Great for muscle toning.
  • Power Lunch: Strengthen the entire body. Includes abdominals, back and stabilizing muscles.
  • Pilates: Designed to strengthen core and increase flexibility using flowing and rhythmic Pilates movements.
  • Spin: Indoor group cycling with a fun atmosphere.
  • Zumba:Routines feature aerobic interval training with fast and slow rhythmic combos to tone and sculpt the body.
  • Teen Hip Hop: Cardio workout with the latest dance moves.

TEEN ORIENTATION TO WELLNESS

Youth age 13 to 15 are allowed to use the Wellness Center after completing the Teen Orientation meeting. Teens and their parent/guardian will receive information about the equipment, review the code of conduct and begin their journey towards a healthier lifestyle.  Orientations are at 5:00PM at the YMCA. A parent/guardian must attend with the youth in order to complete the certification.

Once the orentation is complete, the youth are allowed to use the Wellness Center when accompanied by their parent/guardian in the Wellnes Center.

TRY HARD - TRIATHLON CLUB

Have you ever wanted to complete a triathlon? Want to be a part of a fun and supportive group that will challenge you? Come join the YMCA Triathlon Club. We will be focusing on runninng, biking and swimming in each class. New athletes and seasoned ones are welcome.

Age: 13  years and older

Dates: January 5 to December 6

Day: First Monday of the month

Time: 7:00PM

Fee: $25 for the year
