Youth Programs
The YMCA’s Youth Sports Program helps kids become not only better players, but better people as well. It’s a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition, and family involvement and even match children of similar abilities.

The YMCA youth sports programs are designed to promote growth in body, mind, and spirit; encourage participation through family involvement; low-level competition and an emphasis on fun, safety, teamwork, fair play, and skill development. The goals and objectives of YMCA Youth Sports are based on certain beliefs about youth sports, a philosophy summarized in the following eight concepts:

  • Participation – everyone plays!
  • Fun – we play sports to have fun!
  • Fitness – regular cardiovascular exercise is important for a lifetime!
  • Skills – emphasize the fundamentals!
  • Teamwork – focus on cooperation, not competition!
  • Fair play – involves respect!
  • Family involvement – youth sports is a family program!
  • Volunteers – are the key!

The YMCA offers the following programs for youth:

  • Basketball
  • Cheerleading
  • Volleyball
  • Fit Kids Club
  • Sportys for Shortys
